Dr. Mike is a "Native Texan" from Lubbock, TX, and is a graduate of Texas Tech University and Baylor College of Dentistry. While at Baylor, he was selected as the "Outstanding Dentist in Pediatric Dentistry" by the faculty at graduation. He has been practicing dentistry with his wife & best friend, Dr. Venssa Knight, for over 24 years.
Dr. Mike oversees all diagnostic & preventive aspects of Pinebrook Dental, including all patient exams, cleanings, & treatment planning. He is also a founding member of the American Academy of Oral-Systemic Health. He is the "laser doc" in the practice, and also handles all whitening cases. He is trained/certified in the use of the Versawave erbium/YAG laser.
Dr. Mike has completed advanced post-graduate training under the prestigious Hornbrook Group and LVI, and collaborates with Dr. Venssa on all large cosmetic and reconstructive cases.
Dr. Mike also oversees all 6 Month Smile adult orthodontic care in the practice. This state-of-the-art orthodontic system can provide many adults with the smile they have always wanted - and in as little as 4-8 months!
When not at work, Dr. Mike is busy with his 3 children (especially when it comes to math homework!) He loves to ski, fish, bird hunt, and hike. His "passion", though, is cooking BBQ competitively on a professional circuit. His BBQ team - consisting of Dr. Mike, Dr. Venssa, and their kids - is known as "Hoochie Que", and they have won numerous awards over the past 5 years. The team was invited to compete in the prestigious Jack Daniels World Championship BBQ Competition in 2009 - the only BBQ team from Utah to have ever received such an honor!
